Forest of Piano

A one of kind tale about two piano players from very different upbringings. On one hand you have Kai, born as the son of a prostitute, who’s been playing the abandoned piano in the forest on the other you have Syuhei, practically breast-fed by the piano played and prodigal son of a family of prestigious pianists. Yet their common bond and love for the piano eventually intertwines their paths in life. If you love listening to the piano music then this anime is gold for you.

Nodame cantabille

Nodame Cantabille is the perfect mix of romance, comedy and music. The story revolves around Shinichi Chiaki, a first class musician whose dream is to play among the elites in Europe. The only thing stopping Shinichi from leaving for Europe is his fear of flying. As a result, he’s grounded in Japan. During his 4th year in his college he meets Megumi Noda or, as she refers to herself, Nodame.

She happens to be a unkempt girl with no direction in life but who has a great talent for piano. Nevertheless, Shinichi is dismayed to discover that Nodame is his neighbor, and worse, she ends up falling head over heels in love with him.

A truly comical story of love, music and the slice of life. Deserves to be in the list of best piano themed anime.

Kids on the Slope

Kids on the slope is another amazing piano themed anime which revolves around a Introverted classical pianist Kaoru Nishimi who has just arrived in Kyushu for his first year of high school. Due to his introverted nature and having to constantly move from place to place since his childhood, he had abandoned all hope of fitting in and trying to make friends. That is, until he encounters the infamous delinquent Sentarou Kawabuchi and his love for jazz music. Kaoru begins playing the piano at after-school jazz sessions, located in the basement of fellow student Ritsuko Mukae’s family-owned record shop. 

Sakamichi no Apollon is a truly heartwarming story of friendship, music, and love that follows three unique individuals brought together by their mutual appreciation for jazz and piano music. One of the must watch anime according to me.

Her teacher, Mr. Shirakawa, is often frustrated with her playing. Although she plays every note exactly correct, her heart just isn’t in it… 

Meanwhile, Miu’s come of the age when she’s noticing boys and this shy young lady has noticed the handsome Kazuya Takahashi—even if he hasn’t noticed her. This is Miu’s story.
