Yin was initially depicted as a doll incapable of expressing emotion. Huang attributes this to her “program,” which was limited and didn’t allow her to make her own choices. Yin, on the other hand, learns to show feelings and her own will during the series, deciding to follow Hei and remain his companion, and even observing and noticing a shift in his behavior while not being told to do so. This was demonstrated when she summoned Hei from the emptiness to return to her and not abandon her.
