Shanks is a laid-back guy who would rather take his time traveling around the world with his team and having fun than hurrying from one destination to another. This was true even when he was younger when he was more lighthearted and innocent than his surly and opportunistic fellow apprentice Buggy. He did, however, have periods of immaturity from time to time, instigating small disagreements with Buggy merely out of stubbornness. Shanks resembled Luffy (as a child) in many respects when he was younger. When Shanks and his crew appear, they are virtually always seen partying and drinking alcoholic beverages.
