Touka’s personality is defined by her dichotomy of wrath and kindness at first, with her character development centered on that rage receding and her kindness rising to the fore. She is naturally gentle, but she has suppressed it as a result of losing her father and having to survive in the ghoul world from a young age, which forced her to be brutal. As Shuu Tsukiyama points out, she used to appear more threatening and frigid, but she has softened as a result of her human life, and she has continued to do so because of Ken Kaneki’s influence, which has allowed her to be a nice person she is deep down.
